Press Release

Enjoy an evening of fine art and classic rock benefiting Arts For the Schools Tuesday, June 24 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at The Rock in Truckee.

Attendees will munch on delicious appetizers provided by The Rock’s restaurants and sample select wine/beer offerings while they glimpse artwork from the area’s top artists. For added summer evening ambience, Connie Bryan will supply an upbeat musical vibe with her classic rock repertoire.

“We are honored to be the beneficiary of Art Rocks,” said Melanie Kauffman, executive director of Arts For the Schools, a non-profit organization that enhances early learning and fosters a lifelong love of the creative arts. “Arts For the Schools has suffered major funding cutbacks from government sources in recent few years, so we are truly thankful to The Rock, Pogan Gallery and all the wonderful artists who have joined together for this event.”

Event co-sponsor Pogan Gallery will feature works from a variety of regional artists who explore Lake Tahoe/Sierra themes in their artwork. In the lovely courtyard, local artists Carole Sesko, Eve Werner, Sara Zimmerman, Nancy Olson, Soren Wolff and Greg Van Loon will display their work. Additionally, the multi-media artwork of Deb Rose, Judy Carini, Barbara Grant, Denise Gilroy and Elizabeth and Olof Carmel will also be featured.

The $5 entry cost to the event includes access to wine and beer samplings as well as appetizers; 100 percent of the proceeds go to Arts For the Schools.

The Rock is a multi-use complex located in Uptown Truckee, off Highway 267 adjacent to the Ponderosa Golf Course, next to the Best Western, across from Sierra Meadows at 11197 Brockway Road. For more information, call 530-550-2250.
