  • The Keep Squaw True movement was born from the efforts of environmental watchdog Sierra Watch to ensure developments like the one proposed at Squaw don’t destroy the Sierra Nevada’s central nature. “The Movie to Keep Squaw True” premiers in Truckee this September.

  • Ten high school students embarked on a journey of epic proportions this summer in Truckee. On July 31 at 5:30 p.m. at the Cedar House Sport Hotel in Truckee, the 36th day of their experience, they’ll read poetry they’ve written about their experiences.

    In its 24th year, the Downieville Classic is back with an exciting lineup of bike racing and eclectic bike-themed celebrations.

  • Over the summer, Slow Food Lake Tahoe will offer Wednesday workshops, Harvest Mondays, Work Wednesdays, and Community Dig-In Days on the third Saturday of each month

  • As long as the weather is decent, and you’ve got a helmet and working brakes, you can ride the professionally built tracks at the Truckee Bike Park until sundown.

  • On May 15 at Truckee High School, Ashanti Branch, of The Mask You Live In documentary, will be coming to Truckee to speak about boys, masculinity, and the challenges our boys face growing up in a culture where they have to hide many parts of their emotional world.

  • Support the arts, its vitality in the community, and Kindred’s sixth anniversary as an organization. The festival, just like the organization, will have something for everyone — tie dye, a keychain making booth, button making, Henna tattoos, hula hoops, live music from Afrolicious, an urban art wall, and brews for the parents.

  • In just seven days you can build a seaworthy paddleboard through a Tahoe Maritime Museum course taught by Larry Froley, Roseville-based certified instructor with a background in surfing and paddling.

  • Tahoe’s touring bingo crew is taking their interactive show to Lightning in a Bottle in May. Can’t make it to the festival? Don’t worry Rusty Reams and his crew performs regularly at Alibi Ale Works and the Auld Dubliner.
