Atelier Opens in Truckee

Atelier, a place to celebrate tactile living, opened March 6 in downtown Truckee. Brian Hess and Heather River, owners of Bespoke, opened the new retail and workshop space just two doors down from their flagship store. Atelier connects artists, collectors, and community through workshops, artist residencies, and supplies. The Atelier gallery will feature University of Nevada, Reno professor Eunkang Koh’s Humanimal Farm, which has shown in over 30 countries. Info:

CrossFit Truckee Opens in New Location

On March 14, CrossFit Truckee hosted a grand re-opening at its new facility located in the Airport Business Park at 12277 Soaring Way. The new location boasts an additional 30 percent of indoor training space along with upgrades and additions to its fleet of training tools and equipment. In addition, there is more usable outdoor training space for endurance and conditioning work. All programs and classes will be available for athletes at any level, from beginners to competitors, which include weightlifting, powerlifting, mobility, yoga, and endurance. Info:

Coffeebar Hires Executive Chef

Nicholas Hernandez, an award-winning professional chef and ice sculptor in the Reno/Tahoe area, was recently hired as executive chef for Coffeebar. Born and raised in Westchester, NY, and of Puerto Rican and Italian descent, Hernandez developed a passion for the culinary arts at a very young age, starting in professional kitchens at 13 years old. He has worked under 14 different certified master chefs, works as a personal chef for North Tahoe Catering, and is a professional ice sculptor for Tahoe Ice Sculptures. Hernandez says he is thrilled to begin working with the Coffeebar team to take the culinary experience at Coffeebar to the “next level.” He will create all new menu items in addition to weekly specials for Coffeebar, including fresh salads, soups, a variety of Italian style sandwiches, and more. The dishes will be inspired by the freshest local ingredients available, with a focus on ‘zero waste’ throughout the culinary process. Info:

Sierra Sotheby’s Acquires Better Homes & Gardens

Sierra Sotheby’s International Realty recently acquired the Tahoe City, Truckee, and Incline Village offices of Better Homes & Gardens. Jeff Hamilton, Sierra Sotheby’s vice president of North Tahoe Operations, will take on the new role of managing broker for the Tahoe City and Truckee offices, with Bob Wheeler accepting the role for those agents joining the Incline Village office. Tahoe Oral Surgery Gives $55k to Environment

Dr. Dan Marin and his wife Sonja opened Tahoe Oral Surgery and Implant Center in 2010 with a strong commitment to patient care and giving back to the Truckee/Tahoe community. In March, they will be celebrating their five-year business anniversary, and are proud that, in addition to providing treatment to thousands of patients, they have donated more than $55,000 to Lake Tahoe-area nonprofit environmental organizations through their 1% for the Planet membership. Alison Elder Named Chase Tahoe Agent 2014

Chase International has recognized Alison Elder as the Tahoe area Agent of the Year for 2014, making it the fourth consecutive time she has earned this prestigious title. She was also named the top listing agent in units and volume sold. The awards are given out annually by Chase International and are based on sales, listings, and volume sold throughout 2014. Last year, Elder sold 56 homes and listed 42 homes, representing 103 total transactions while being involved in more than $65 million in sales. She also ranked the highest in volume, volume sold, and overall outcome of real estate purchases or sales for a Chase International agent.
