Our current labor and housing crisis is a very important issue that needs to be addressed, and it’s impacting our business severely. Our labor pool is smaller than we desire; we are hiring and recruiting from all areas, beyond locally, and we cannot find experienced, or even inexperienced help. For instance, Rock & Rose should have three irrigation technicians, and this summer, we have one. The main issue is that people cannot afford to live here or find any housing. Homes that were previously rented to temporary employees are now being rented out through Airbnb and VRBO.

It has become a serious crisis that all businesses are experiencing. In the past we could hire from Reno, but with companies such as Tesla and other factories opening there, the desire or necessity to commute is extinct. Long gone are the days of flipping through a stack of applications to find qualified help.

Our crews are working 10 to 12 hour days and doing all they can for us. We are very grateful for the employees that have committed to our Rock & Rose team. If you see them doing a good job, we welcome you sharing that with them!
