Former Tahoe City resident Jacque Mielke passed away on March 2, 2018 in Sebastopol, California, which has been her home since 1986.

Jacque will be remembered for her sense of humor, artistic talents, insatiable quest for knowledge, and generosity of spirit.

Jacque and her husband Don, who lived in Tahoe City for 20 years, owned and operated Tahoe Park Cottages (now the Cottage Inn), and the North Lake Veterinary Clinic. Jacque supported many community projects including SnowFest and the North Tahoe Fine Arts Council. She spearheaded early efforts to preserve the Hellman-Ehrman Mansion at Sugar Pine Point State Park. Jacque owned Ideas Unlimited in Tahoe City, which supported local artists by providing work space and classes.

Besides being an avid hiker, golfer, and skier, animals were a passion of Jacque’s. When she and Don moved to Sebastopol, they became regular volunteers at Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue. Just in her own backyard, Jacque saved many Sonoma County opossums and countless baby squirrels!

Jacque is survived by her husband Don, children Carl, Jennifer (Rob) Hughes, granddaughters Phoebe and Lilli Hughes, sister Shary (Bob) MacDowell and several cousins.

A reunion of friends and family will be held on Saturday, May 19 at 2 p.m. at the Hellman-Ehrman Mansion at Sugar Pine Point State Park. Info:

Donations in her honor may be made to Sierra State Parks Foundation at P.O. Box 28, Tahoe City, CA 96145 or
