Don’t you hate it when you do your job so well that it backfires? It is not a stretch to say that fire management in our region — and all over the country for that matter — did too good a job of keeping fire out of specific parts of the country. For example, fire used to rip through the Tahoe Basin every seven to 15 years but now, because we live in a residential area, new measures are taken to mimic what nature would have done if fires were still coming through our area. Even more, we need to know what happens, after initial confirmation, when fire threatens our beautiful pocket of the country.
