Truckee High School’s baseball team is coming into the playoffs hot, after finishing the regular season with a 24-5 record behind dominating pitching.

Truckee High pitcher Steven Baker was the MVP of the league, and Truckee High Coach Mike Ellis said the team as a whole may be the best he has ever coached.

“Two years ago I had a team that went 30-9 and got to the state championship game. I thought that was the best team I had in 13 years,” said Ellis. “But I would call this a better team.”

Truckee faces Fernley at home in the best two-out-of-three first round contest on May 11 and 12. If they beat Fernley they will advance to the state tournament, a double elimination contest that will be held in Reno.
